Rodrick Strong (American) married Marina Shafir (Moldovan)

WWE Superstar Rodrick Strong was born in Wisconsin. He made his WWE debut in 2016, a few months following his engagement to mixed martial artist Marina Shafir.

Shafir was born in Moldova, which was then part of the Soviet Union, and moved to the United States with her family at the age of five. The Moldovan married Strong in 2018, and they now have a young boy.

The couple met while Strong was the Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Champion. Nearly two years after the 38-year-old moved to WWE, his wife joined him on NXT. She debuted on the Evolution pay-per-view.

While Strong succeeded in becoming the NXT North American Champion and a two-time NXT Tag Team Champion, his wife failed to win any gold in WWE. Shafir never even received any title shots during her time on NXT. Although Strong remains on the Black & Gold Brand, Shafir was recently released from her WWE contract.

Before leaving the company, Shafir teamed up with her husband twice in WWE.

On the NXT Ocala Show in March 2019, the couple joined forces with Kyle O'Reilly to take on Matt Riddle, Mia Yim and Punishment Martinez but came up short. Later that same year, Shafir and Strong also lost an inter-gender tag match against Matt Riddle and Rhea Ripley on the NXT Tampa Show.
