Buddy Murphy - The new WWE Cruiserweight Champion

The 30 year old, Buddy Murphy had toiled in NXT for a long time, having debuted there in 2013.

Together with Wesley Blake, Murphy won the NXT Tag Team Championship from The Lucha Dragons. The win made Murphy the first Australian to ever win a title in WWE.

Murphy's career went on a downwards slide from there and he largely disappeared from television until he made the decision to lose over 20 pounds in weight to make him eligible to compete in the Cruiserweight division.

Debuting on 205 Live in early 2018, Murphy at last found some direction with his career in WWE which culminated in front of his homeland fans at Super Show-Down when he defeated long time Champion Cedric Alexander in a hugely entertaining match-up to win the Championship.

Murphy has every opportunity to become the greatest Australian WWE superstar of all time. One to watch.
