Whether anyone likes it or not, Roman Reigns is leaving Wrestlemania 34 with the Universal Title belt. The WWE has been building towards this match for the last 12 months, and there is no chance they are going to change their plans this late in the game.
There are plenty of positives to take from this, though. The Big Dog is a great performer in the ring, and having the Universal Title around the waist of a full-time performer means that the Raw main event can finally regain its focus. Lesnar's continued absences have received much criticism from fans, and it has also hindered a lot of the upper mid-card from taking the step up to the main event.
Reigns' title run will allow for plenty of superstars to challenge for the belt, and in the long run, that can only be a good thing. Let's take a look at the five best superstars for Roman Reigns to feud with after he inevitably wins at Wrestlemania 34.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#1 Braun Strowman
Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns have a long and well-established history. The two feuded for large portions of 2017 and, as unpopular as this opinion may be, Reigns is one of the main reasons Strowman is as over as he is today.
These two men know how to get the best out of each other, and Strowman is easily one of the most over superstars in the company right now. The Monster Among Men is currently without any real storyline and has basically spent the last month wondering around and smashing stuff up.
Having him come after his long-time rival, in an attempt to steal away his newly won Universal Title belt makes a lot of sense, and Reigns would no doubt benefit from a strong program after Wrestlemania.
The two men have that rare gift of making a match between them feel fresh. Strowman could even win the belt off Reigns at some point down the line, which would be a move much welcomed by large majorities of the WWE fanbase.
#2 Finn Balor
Finn Balor was the company's first ever Universal Champion, and since being forced to vacate his Universal Title on the Raw after Summerslam 2016, he is still yet to receive a rematch for the belt.
There was a lot of speculation at the back end of 2017 that Balor was set to go one-on-one with Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble, but further rumours suggested that Vince McMahon didn't believe he was over enough to take on Lesnar.
The former UFC Heavyweight Champion was booked like an unstoppable beast during 2017, and in the eyes of creative, the fans may not have bought him as a legitimate challenger to Lesnar's throne. Roman Reigns, however, is a different story.
The Irishman has defeated Reigns in the past and has always been booked to look strong against him. A feud between the pair could really help Balor and re-establish him as a legitimate challenger for the Universal Title.
#3 Samoa Joe
Sadly, for the second year running, Samoa Joe looks set to miss this year's Wrestlemania. Joe is one of the biggest and best performers on the Raw roster, and it feels like it is just a matter of time before he gets his first taste of gold in the WWE.
He is also one of the company's most reliable stars, and his feud with Brock Lesnar showed that he was capable of putting on a real barnstormer of a main event feud.
Joe has also scored multiple victories over Roman Reigns on Raw and has been a constant thorn in the Big Dog's side. Joe returning on the Raw after Wrestlemania and taking out Reigns would be the perfect way to set up a feud between these two, who could no doubt steal the show on any PPV if given the correct amount of time.
#4 Lashley
While the WWE has yet to make a formal announcement, it seems fairly certain that former Impact star Lashley has signed a new deal with his former company.
Lashley always felt like the one that got away from the WWE. A superstar who, despite several pushes, never quite managed to get over in the way that WWE creative had envisioned. Fast forward nearly a decade and after a successful run in Impact, Lashley looks like the kind of star the WWE always wanted him to be.
Rumours a few weeks ago suggested that Lashley was likely to feud with Lesnar upon his return to the company, but if Lesnar decides not to stay with the WWE, logic would suggest that a feud with Roman Reigns would be the next best bet for the former US and ECW champion.
Lashley will return to the company with a lot of hype behind him, and having him instantly compete for the Universal Title against Reigns would automatically re-establish him as a major star within the company.
#5 Seth Rollins
Roman has a lot of history with a lot of entries on this list, but none quite like his history with his former Sheild team-mate Seth Rollins.
Rollins and Reigns came up from NXT together and were two-thirds of one of the most dominant stables in WWE history. This all went sour, however, when Rollins turned his back on the group and entered into a lengthy feud with Dean Ambrose.
Rollins and Reigns were involved in a brief feud back in the summer of 2016, but we never got to see a fully escalated feud between the pair come to fruition.
Rollins has finally earned his way back into the Universal Title picture, thanks to some stellar performances on Raw as of late, and while he seems destined to go one-on-one with Dean Ambrose, when Ambrose makes his return from injury, a feud with Roman Reigns after Wrestlemania seems to be the perfect way to fill time.
Not only that, the two men are two of the company's most consistent performers, and given the time, they could easily steal the show on whatever card they end up competing on.
