The Mega Powers on the verge of exploding

At WrestleMania 4, Hulk Hogan helped Randy Savage win the WWE Championship in the finals of the tournament for the vacant championship. The Mega Powers were formed soon and became one of the most unstoppable forces in all of WWE.

In a match against The Twin Towers, Miss Elizabeth got injured at ringside and Hogan took her to the back. This didn't sit well with Savage, who tried to get back at Hogan by leaving him on his own, later in the match. Things only got worse as time passed, culminating in a WWE Championship match between Savage and Hogan at WrestleMania 5, which Hogan won.

#1 Matt Hardy - Lita - Edge

Soon after WrestleMania 21, it had become public knowledge that Lita had cheated on Matt Hardy with Edge. WWE decided to turn it into a storyline, and the decision paid off big. Hardy attacked Edge on an episode of WWE RAW, and the two former friends met at SummerSlam. The match was awarded to Edge when Hardy began bleeding after his head hit the ring post, causing a referee stoppage. At Unforgiven, Hardy defeated Edge inside a steel cage.

On the RAW Homecoming episode, Edge faced Matt Hardy in a Loser Leaves RAW Ladder Match, with Edge's Money In The Bank briefcase on the line. With Lita's help, Edge managed to defeat Hardy, and one of the most controversial storylines in WWE history came to an end. It is also the storyline that really began to raise Edge's stock in the company leading up to cashing in Money in the Bank at the beginning of 2006.
