Shane McMahon's last singles encounter was against arguably one of the best wrestlers in WWE today, AJ Styles. Shane and AJ had a fierce rivalry leading to this match, and the final battle between these two was a massive surprise for the fans. It was the first match on the Wrestlemania main card and probably the best match of the night.

Shane and AJ both had lacklustre encounters at Wrestlemania 32, with Styles looking to make a mark for himself on the "Grandest Stage of Them All". The decision to have a wrestler in his prime in the form of Styles, facing off against a part-timer McMahon, was a frustrating choice, but the result trumped everything.

Shane proved that even at the age of 47, he could still go in the ring. He also performed a beautiful looking Shooting Star Press which was dodged by Styles. Styles benefited from being in a quality program with Shane, and his face turn on the following Smackdown was a welcome sight.
