At the 2007 Armageddon pay-per-view, the returning Edge once again made history as he won his second WWE World Heavyweight Championship in a Triple Threat Match also involving The Undertaker, who was the victim of two brutal chair shots from The Rated-R Superstar. With Edge pinning Batista to win the title, the newly crowned champion was set for another interesting title reign.

The reign saw the formation of the La Familia faction and also saw Edge defend his title successfully against Rey Mysterio at the 2008 Royal Rumble, only for him to shift his focus towards The Undertaker.

With WrestleMania 24 around the corner, Edge and Taker had engaged in a classic feud for the ages that culminated at The Grandest Stage of Them All with The Deadman winning the WWE World Heavyweight Title off Edge.
The match itself had its memorable moments and also saw outside interference from Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder but in the closing stages, the last gasp spear from Edge saw him eventually get caught into the Hell's Gate submission as he had no other option but to tap-out.
