#1 WWE Extreme Rules 2012: John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar
When John Cena lost to The Rock at WrestleMania XXVIII, he was at an all-time low in his career. So the next night on RAW, when he was addressing the fans when Brock Lesnar suddenly made his way out, it was something no one was expecting.
Lesnar had been away from WWE as he pursued American Football and MMA until that moment. It was one of the biggest surprises that the fans were not ready for. The returning Lesnar attacked Cena and the two ended up facing each other in the next pay-per-view — WWE Extreme Rules.

They faced each other in an Extreme Rules match, which is basically a No DQ match.
For the entirety of the match, Brock Lesnar absolutely demolished and brutalized John Cena. The latter was seemingly not even capable of standing up at times. However, as Cena often does, he summoned energy out of nowhere. He bloodied Lesnar with a metal chain to the head. He followed this up with an Attitude Adjustment on top of the steel steps, before he pinned Lesnar.
Cena's win was immense, but also it was a brutal match — the perfect match to signal Lesnar's return to the company.
