This was definitely one of those decisions that was taken at the last minute. AJ Styles vs Cedric Alexander for the United States Championship was shockingly put on the Kickoff show.

While we would understand the perspective that putting AJ Styles on the Kickoff show would draw more viewers, they didn't announce it early enough and it came as quite a surprise. Naturally, the two men were restricted in what they could do due to a 10-minute space, but it's obvious that this would have been a more memorable match on the show. It could have served as an opening bout, an early bout or even one in the middle of the crowd to get them hot again.

What's clear is that AJ Styles should not be wrestling on the Kickoff show. He's been doing really good with the United States Championship so far and it doesn't seem like he'll be losing it anytime soon. Hopefully, for the next PPV Hell in a Cell 2019, Styles will be featured on the main card.
