Weeks later, he defended the title against Triple H and Kane in a Triple Threat match at Armageddon. Kane had helped Vince McMahon bury The Undertaker alive at Survivor Series, and was now eyeing for the top prize.

The eventual match ended with Triple H coming out victorious and winning the World title. The final shot of the night saw all four members of Evolution holding titles and posing on the ramp.

Reportedly, Goldberg made his way backstage after the match and caused a ruckus. He was throwing chairs and yelling at everyone because he was upset with the match but stopped when Triple H approached him and asked whether he had an issue.
According to Bruce Prichard, Goldberg told The Game that there was no problem. He proceeded to shake Triple H's hand and thanked him for the match they just had. He was suspended the next day, but the suspension didn't last long, as Goldberg came back on the road to Royal Rumble.
