The biggest storyline of the Attitude Era was Vince McMahon's attempts to put down Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Austin's quest to capture the WWE title. In the midst of this, Stephanie was introduced to the WWE Universe as Vince McMahon's friendly and innocent daughter. Soon after, The Undertaker kidnapped Stephanie and was forcibly going to marry her. Vince was later revealed as the one who was behind the entire ploy, in an attempt to get back to Austin.

It all came to an end in a match at No Mercy, pitting Vince McMahon against Stephanie. The "I Quit" Match ended with Vince coming out the victor and leaving the ring alongside Sable, while Linda consoled a distraught Stephanie. Stephanie, SmackDown's GM at the time, disappeared from WWE TV after this storyline was done and dusted with.

He would book Roman Reigns to re-form The Bloodline with The Usos and Sami Zayn upon his comeback. The angle would see The Tribal Chief-led group go head-to-head with The Rock, Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Jacob Fatu in a blockbuster family feud.
