Being a challenger for the WWE Championship is nothing new for Randy Orton. The Viper has held the title nine times, and he is currently the biggest active competitor in the company. With SmackDown Live moving to FOX in October, WWE needs a huge star to carry the brand.

Randy Orton would fit that role perfectly, and to do that, he needs to defeat Kofi Kingston to win the WWE Championship. Kingston undoubtedly deserves to be WWE Champion, but it's time he dropped the title to another Superstar.
His reign isn't going to last forever, and since Clash of Champions is the last PPV before SmackDown's move to FOX, WWE needs to pull the string now by crowning Randy Orton the new WWE Champion. He deserves it after all.
Kofi retaining might not be a good idea, as fans will soon get tired of him and end up turning on him.
