#3: MJF pulled an upset victory over Cody, using a ring-bearing fist
MJF and Cody Rhodes' rivalry had to be the most personal feud heading into the AEW Revolution Pay-Per-View.
Even though both of them had a good match that featured some entertaining shenanigans, you could feel that the actual confrontation lacked some heat which was present in all of their segments before the PPV.
But the biggest highlights occurred during the latter half of the bout where at the discretion of the referee, Cody re-payed MJF for the lashes he received on the Road to Revolution. This led to MJF begging for mercy at Cody's feet in a false display.
After being spit on the face following MJF's false cry for mercy, Cody went on to execute the Cross Rhodes maneuver 2 consecutive times.
While executing the third, MJF would counter and drop Cody with his ring-bearing fist for a successful three-count.
The upset victory didn't leave anyone happy.
But it is exactly what people should have expected from a character like MJF. Moreover, it was important to make MJF look strong if there is to be a future encounter between the two men again.
Cody's disappointment was evident after the match was over. But a rematch on the Road to Double or Nothing would be a great way to improve on this particular bout.
