#1: Otis and Asuka's MITB Ladder Match victories were unexpected

People have been conflicted over Otis winning the Men's MITB Ladder Match this year. But from a broader perspective, WWE fans should have seen this coming all along.
On the SmackDown episode before MITB, WWE established that Otis was the least likely candidate to secure the briefcase when he couldn't even climb the ladder properly. Although the manner of his victory is questionable, Otis went on to do the unexpected after what happened on SmackDown.
On top of that, Otis has been the part of one of WWE's most entertaining storylines this year. It can be argued that this is too early for Otis to be pushed, but why not trigger the push when the man is at his peak?
For what it's worth, it seems like Otis has been handed the briefcase as a reward for all his accomplishments this year. The same can be said for Asuka, who has been carrying the RAW Women's Division on her back ever since WWE relocated their shows to the Performance Center.
It will be interesting to see how two unlikely MITB candidates will change the landscape of WWE right now.
