The week's biggest news story circled around the return of Aleister Black on WWE SmackDown. Backstage promos involving the WWE Superstar had been airing for weeks, but it was the first time Black had been seen in the flesh for a very long time.
The Striking Man from Amsterdam delivered a Black Mass to Big E and ended his hopes of winning back the Intercontinental Championship. This was a good way to allow Apollo Crews to retain his title on SmackDown.

However, why did Black attack Big E on SmackDown? The two do not have any history, and it did not make much sense as to why Black would target someone like Big E.
