In what was perhaps one of the greatest PPV's of this year, WWE definitely exceeded expectations by ending the night with Daniel Bryan Vs. Brock Lesnar.
While many fans and critics suggested this match to be a punishment for the Beard for skipping Crown Jewel, the company did just the opposite and brought the house down with it's booking.
The WWE Champion took Brock Lesnar to his absolute limits and made the match even more interesting with his offensive grappling abilities.
Considering that this always a dream match for us all, the match was solid in all departments and solidified Survivor Series 2018 as one of the best shows of the year.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
But, why did Bryan take the Beast Incarnate to his limits while everyone else expected it to be a Daniel Bryan mauling? It seems there is more to the story than meets the eye.
So, without further ado, let's dive deep and analyze the five biggest reasons why WWE wanted Daniel Bryan to push Brock Lesnar to his limits.
#1 To establish the insanely 'villainous' side of Daniel Bryan
One of the biggest reasons why the creative match presented this match the way they did was to solidify Daniel Bryan as an insanely 'villainous' heel.
His WWE Championship victory against A.J. Styles shocked the world after the Beard turned heel and got the job done, in order to represent the blue brand at Survivor Series.
Ever since the start of the main event, Daniel Bryan played his heel role to perfection, as he mocked the crowd and Brock Lesnar whilst bringing his offensive side to full display.
Since Brock Lesnar will continue to follow his part-time schedule, the Leader of the Yes Movement would return to the blue brand with much more momentum than he already has.
Considering that Bryan's face run was becoming pretty stagnant, his new villainous side catapulted him to bigger heights and made him an even more dangerous WWE Champion.
#2 Brock Lesnar wanted his encounter with Daniel Bryan to be special
There's no denying that legions of fans wanted WWE to bring both these superstars to compete against each other inside the squared circle.
Both the superstars brought the fight to Staples Center and absolutely mauled each other to perfection. The match definitely felt like a 'poetry in motion', with Bryan using every tactic in the book to dethrone the Universal Champion.
While the Beast Incarnate started the match in his style and dominated the entire scenario until Bryan took the opportunity to 'low-blow' Lesnar after the referee went down due to an unfortunate collision.
Since matches of such stature end pretty quickly, especially in the case of Brock Lesnar. However, the Universal Champion gave Bryan the respect he deserves between the ropes and sold absolutely everything that Bryan was throwing at him.
Considering that we do despise the Beast Incarnate for caring more about the business than the art of wrestling, Brock's selling justified that he really wanted his match with Daniel Bryan to be special.
#3 Ending Survivor Series on a pretty fantastic note
Judging by how Survivor Series transpired, WWE definitely produced an exceptional night of wrestling integrated with a very fine dose of entertainment.
Despite the criticism Vince McMahon receives for not bringing much rejuvenation to the product, all matches delivered whatever they were expected to deliver inside the squared circle.
Since last year's Survivor Series ended on a very disappointing note, the decision for Brock Lesnar and Daniel Bryan to close the show was fantastic in its own right.
The Beast Incarnate tends to sell less in a majority of his matches and wraps his encounters with more emphasis on the 'Suplex City' moniker, but this main event made the fans pretty happy.
The match was clinically booked, keeping in mind the effort and value of both the superstars which made the night in Staples Center more prestigious and incredible.
#4 To make the WWE Championship as equal and relevant as the Universal Championship
There was a time when the WWE Championship was perhaps the single-most greatest title in the history of sports entertainment.
With the inception of the Universal Championship on Monday Night Raw, the most coveted prize in sports entertainment has been sidelined to mid-card spots.
Since Vince McMahon lays more focus on the red brand, booking such a war to close the main event certainly made the WWE Champion feel as equal as the Universal Champion.
There's no denying that the fans have legitimately criticized the idea of seeing the WWE Championship taking spots that belonged to the mid-card division, bringing this fight to life solidified the title Bryan was representing.
While Brock Lesnar will go back into isolation after this victory, Bryan's effort would be applauded and make him and the WWE Championship even a bigger deal.
#5 Nobody entered the Staples Center expecting such a fight
After NXT TakeOver: War Games II blew the entire building with its high-octane action, nobody was expecting Vince McMahon and his team to follow the same.
Since recent WWE events have all ended on a disappointing note, legions of fans had already predicted Daniel Bryan to receive the beating of his life.
However, the roles reversed after a while and the WWE Champion absolutely mauled the Beast Incarnate with his solid grappling and striking style.
Considering the odds, nobody in the entire Staples Center had any clue what was happening and with Bryan's recent heel turn, the fans were certainly at the edge of their seats.
It was something that the fans definitely wanted to see but didn't expect it to happen in such style due to Vince McMahon's style of booking encounters involving Brock Lesnar.
The WWE Champion pushed Brock Lesnar to his absolute limits and became a bigger threat to him than the Phenomenal One, A.J. Styles.
