AJ Styles took on The Undertaker at WrestleMania 36 in a highly successful cinematic-style Boneyard match. After losing to The Phenom in what was the main event of Night One of WWE WrestleMania 36, AJ Styles went on a brief hiatus. He returned on the RAW before WWE Money in the Bank 2020 and won a gauntlet match to become the last entrant in the men's MITB match.

According to rumors, AJ Styles was the favorite to become Mr. Money in the Bank 2020. In what was a unique edition of the pay-per-view, both the men's and women's MITB matches took place at the WWE Headquarters in cinematic style. During the ending moments of the night, AJ Styles almost won the match but he accidentally dropped the MITB briefcase into the hands of Otis standing below, making him Mr. Money in the Bank 2020.

It is safe to say that Otis as Mr. Money in the Bank wasn't a successful idea. Recently, at WWE Hell in a Cell 2020, Otis lost his MITB contract to The Miz. One wonders what would have happened if it was AJ Styles who won that match.
