#2 Randy Orton to enter Survivor Series 2020 as the WWE Champion

One of the biggest WWE matches of the year came last month at Survivor Series 2020 as WWE Champion Drew McIntyre took on the Universal Champion Roman Reigns in an epic encounter. It was Roman Reigns who ended up defeating McIntyre after some outside help from Jey Uso. However, this match almost didn't happen.

At Hell in a Cell 2020, Randy Orton defeated Drew McIntyre to win the WWE title and was all set to take on Roman Reigns at Survivor Series 2020. On the RAW before Survivor Series, Drew McIntyre challenged Orton for the WWE title. As per the rumors, the plan was for Orton to retain his title and face Roman Reigns at Survivor Series.

However, it was Drew McIntyre who defeated Orton, reclaiming his WWE Championship and setting up his clash with The Tribal Chief. The match between the two at Survivor Series was highly applauded by fans and critiques and really felt like the biggest match WWE could have offered. With the match not ending in a clean finish, the door is open for a massive rematch between the two in the future, possibly on a stage like WrestleMania someday.
