Immediately after WrestleMania 19 in 2003, The Rock came out on Monday Night RAW and boasted about his big win over Stone Cold Steve Austin at The Show of Shows. The Rock was interrupted by none other than Goldberg, who delivered a thunderous Spear on The Great One. Goldberg and The Rock was a legit dream match, between two of the greatest Superstars from the Monday Night Wars. Goldberg and The Rock were set to collide at Backlash 2003 and went on to headline the pay-per-view.

The Rock lost to Goldberg at WWE Backlash
The match wasn't a technical masterpiece by any means, but the WWE Universe was watching it for the same reasons that they had watched The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 18: it was all about two big stars locking horns for the first time ever, and to find out who was the very best. Goldberg defeated The Rock on that night and made it clear that he wasn't one to be stopped easily. Goldberg and The Rock never faced each other in any capacity, and The Brahma Bull never got an opportunity to exact revenge.

Given the opportunity to script WWE’s next big storyline, Abhilash would treat fans to the second installment of The Bloodline Civil War. He would book Roman Reigns to re-form The Bloodline with The Usos and Sami Zayn upon his comeback. The angle would see The Tribal Chief-led group go head-to-head with The Rock, Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Jacob Fatu in a blockbuster family feud.
