From the moment that WWE announced that there were going to be six call-ups from NXT, it had captured the attention of the WWE Universe. When the drafts finally arrived, WWE did live up to the expectations.
Finn Balor, Chad Gable, Jason Jordan, Carmella, Nia Jax, Mojo Rawley and Alexa Bliss were the superstars that got the call-up and now, WWE has the pressure of delivering a solid booking for these stars.
Not doing so might have an adverse impact on the career of these stars so whatever WWE do will be crucial. In this list, we are going to take a look at some of the booking decisions that WWE could make for their new NXT call-ups.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Teaming up Mojo Rawley and Zack Ryder
The draft had some unwanted surprises and Mojo Rawley was one among them. Many had their eyebrows raised when Rawley was called up but then the realization about Zack Ryder being on the same brand as him, eventually kicked in.
There is a certain lack of babyface tag teams in the SmackDown brand and this is something that we will discuss in detail in the next slide.
So, for now, let’s focus on why WWE should book Rawley with Ryder.
Rawley is someone that still could improve a lot when it comes to his in-ring ability. He needs something to mask his flaws until he reaches there, and being in a tag team scenario does the trick.
The hype bros were quite successful in NXT and hopefully, they could be the same on SmackDown as well.
Gable and Jordan as top babyface tag team
Chad Gable and Jason Jordan going to SmackDown was a great decision during the WWE draft. Gable and Jordan were the most over babyface tag team in NXT while New Day along with Enzo Amore and Big Cass were the most over tag teams on the main roster.
Before this, Usos held the position, but for some reason, they were kept out of the limelight and in turn the relevance value dropped.
As New Day, Enzo Amore and Big Cass were drafted to Raw, it would be a great idea for WWE to book Gable and Jordan as the top babyface tag team of SmackDown ahead of The Usos
Carmella gets teamed up with a tag team
A surprising thing that happened during the WWE draft was Carmella getting drafted to SmackDown. Carmella was expected to go to Raw and reunite with Enzo Amore and Big Cass, but WWE apparently has something different in their mind. Carmella, who is still pretty green, needs something to mask this flaw.
The best way would be to team up with Carmella with a tag team in the brand, rather than let her survive on her own. With talented names like Becky Lynch and Natalya in the roster, Carmella's flaws will be projected big time if she goes up in a one-on-one scenario.
Nia Jax as a monster heel booking
Nia Jax is a woman that could dominate the SmackDown's Women's division. Although she has a relatively less experience compared to other women in the brand, Nia has the capability to excel. Though it would be ideal to book Nia as a monster heel like how WWE booked Kharma, Nia has her weaknesses.
Nia has an emotional side that destroys her apparent heel character and it was there to be seen during the backstage footage that WWE aired after the draft. Doing so will reduce the chances of Nia succeeding if indeed WWE is planning to book her as a heel character.
Nia as a baby face, however, might not be as impactful as Nia as a heel.
Finn Balor leading the Club
Finn Balor is set to headline SummerSlam against Seth Rollins for the WWE Universal championship. However, WWE still has the opportunity of elevating him by making him the leader of The Club.
As AJ Styles was drafted to SmackDown, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, or The Club for that matter, is currently in danger of being sidelined just like another tag team in the division.
But if WWE books Balor as the new leader and lets the stable take over the main event scene, it will be a fresh angle and at the same time, will keep Anderson and Gallows relevant. With the Wyatt Family dismantled, WWE will need a heel stable as well and Club can do just that.
