#2 The wildcard rule

Why does everyone hate the wild card rule?
Much like the 24/7 belt that made its debut after WrestleMania 35, it was probably due to the fact that it wasn't the way the WWE Universe wanted the company to go about things. In fact, the fans were probably hoping for a full out end to the brand split, especially with the Fox sports deal coming up, which made anything less than that undesirable.
Unfortunately for WWE, that's exactly what happened and the wildcard rule was critically panned by pretty much anyone. With that being said, however, the rule has brought on a lot of surprising moments on Raw and SmackDown Live, while also allowing for a few dream matches to take place as well.
In the end, it's not what fans wanted, but it was something that injected some excitement back into the pro wrestling product. If nothing else, that's exactly what McMahon set out to do with a rule like this and it seemed to achieve that goal. Interestingly enough, however, the WWE Universe still only cares about a fix-all solution to WWE's problems and isn't willing to take it one step at a time.
