This is a match that has happened before, just not in WWE. Nakamura challenged Brock Lesnar for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship on January 4, 2006, at Toukon Shidou Chapter 1, but lost. The match was not exactly anything to write home about, coming in at 9 minutes.
Aside from this timing issue, the 2006 Shinsuke Nakamura that challenged Brock back then is not the same Shinsuke Nakamura of 2018. Nakamura has become a much more incredible performer since then and would be well capable of putting on a much stronger performance. Much like a potential match with the aforementioned Aleister Black, this would be a perfect combination of brawling and kicks.
