By the time the 2019 Royal Rumble pay-per-view was happening, it almost seemed like a Brock Lesnar vs Finn Balor match should have happened way before 2019's edition of the Rumble.
The Beast was running out of challengers for the Universal Championship, and there were only three logical options for Brock to defend Raw's top prize against - Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, and Finn Balor.
A female WWE star said her life is in danger. Details HERE
Following his shoulder injury that resulted in a torn labrum at SummerSlam 2016, the new Raw superstar was forced to vacate his newly won Universal Championship to go recover. As the former NXT Champion returned, he was lost in the shuffle and fluctuated between the upper mid card and main event scene, but never received a Universal Championship rematch until the Raw following SummerSlam in 2018. Two years later to the date he was injured, Finn Balor finally received his rematch, but came up short.
Leading up to the 2019 Royal Rumble pay-per-view, Finn Balor was seen as a main eventer as he pinned John Cena in a fatal four-way match to become number one contender for Brock Lesnar's Universal Championship.
The Beast and Balor told a great story with the eight minutes they were given, and Brock did some of his best selling of his career in this match. However, like a recurring theme, this match was hurt by the lack of time given.
Though both men showed they had tremendous chemistry with one another, and told a story that the Universal Champion was so desperate to keep his title, that he could not get up and nearly had to break the challenger's arm to fend him off was a bit of a downer.
Imagine if the former Intercontental Champion reverts to The Demon to challenge Brock Lesnar for a rematch with another ten minutes added to the match? The WWE Universe would be in for a guaranteed treat.
