Perhaps the saddest scenario on this whole list is the one of Virgil. The man who was once a main fixture of wrestling back in the 1980s is now somebody you’d never recognise if you walked past him. Virgil now travels up and down America doing anything he can to earn a dollar from the fans who once knew him.

He now sets up stalls in various locations, begging fans to take pictures with him or to get autographs. These events usually ended up in failure as nobody turned up to see the former WWF superstar. He’s become such a joke that fans have set up a site called LonelyVirgil.net where photos of the lonely superstar get posted.
