#2 Making Shane McMahon 'The Best in the World' at WWE Crown Jewel
With WWE now expanding their reach in international territories, their tie-up with Saudi Arabia has given them the freedom to bring something extraordinary to our screens.
Granted that most of the part-timers have closed events of such magnitude, WWE's decision to host the Greatest Royal Rumble and 'WWE World Cup' tournament to decide The Best in the World gave the fans something to be invested in.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Regardless of the fact that the Greatest Royal Rumble did manage to keep us entertained, the same cannot be said about WWE's World Cup tournament.
At WWE Crown Jewel, the likes of Seth Rollins, Rey Mysterio, Dolph Ziggler, Jeff Hardy, Randy Orton, The Miz, Bobby Lashley, and Kurt Angle raised the stakes to become 'The Best in the World'.
Whilst the in-ring quality of the matches didn't elicit any sort of excitement within the fans, an opportunity of such stature could have ascended someone's career.
The Miz and Dolph Ziggler crossed paths in the Finals of the World Cup tournament, and as usual, the company pulled off yet another shocker.
After The A-Lister was ruled unable to compete, Shane McMahon took his spot and outshined a workhorse in Dolph Ziggler to win the tournament.
Although the Commissioner of SmackDown Live did turn heel and brought some relevance to the narrative, the fans never truly acknowledged how horribly it all ended.
