Roman Reigns and The Rock are just a couple of the current and past WWE Superstars who are part of the legendary Anoa'i Family. Most of the names from the dynasty achieved major success in wrestling, but some weren't the same case.
The Anoa'i Family is one of the biggest and most decorated wrestling families in history. In WWE alone there have been The Wild Samoans, Yokozuna, Umaga, Rikishi, Roman Reigns, The Usos, The Rock, and much more. The majority of these stars are considered some of the biggest stars in the sport's history, have achieved several championships, and have either broken or created a record.
Unfortunately, some names from the family didn't succeed in the Stamford-based promotion's wrestling ring. For this list, we will look at five cousins of Roman Reigns and The Rock who didn't succeed in WWE.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#5. The Rock's daughter Ava didn't have the best time as an in-ring performer
Ava made her long-awaited WWE debut in 2022 where she initially joined Joe Gacy's faction, Schism. She made her in-ring debut six months later, but it was quite seen that she still needed room for improvement.
Although not finding the most success as an in-ring talent, the 23-year-old found her footing as an on-screen authority in NXT as the brand's General Manager. Ava is the daughter of The Rock and Dany Garcia and the cousin of Roman Reigns.
#4. Manu had a brief stint with Randy Orton
An underrated superstar most fans may have forgotten was signed with WWE was Afa Anoa'i Jr., who wrestled in the Stamford-based promotion's main roster as Manu from 2008 until 2009. Interestingly, it wasn't his family that he aligned with.
Manu was paired with Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase Jr. and initially went against Randy Orton. Manu and Cody later joined Randy as The Legacy, who struggled to get a win. The Viper later set a test match for the members, wherein Manu failed. After Afa Jr. feuded with The Legacy, nothing else significant happened to him in the company and was released not long after.
#3. Roman Reigns' brother briefly wrestled in WWE
Roman Reigns is the son of Sika Anoa'i, one-half of the legendary Wild Samoans in WWE. However, he wasn't the only son of the Hall of Famer who stepped foot inside the Stamford-based promotion.
Matthew Anoa'i, best known by his ring name Rosey, began his wrestling career in 1995 and debuted in the World Wrestling Federation in 2001, aligning with Eddie Fatu to form the 3-Minute Warning. After Eddie was released in 2003, Rosey paired with The Hurricane where he began wearing a superhero costume. Although the superhero won the World Tag Team Championship, the team didn't truly have a significant impact.
#2. Lloyd Anoa'i is the brother of Manu
Lloyd Anoa'i only spent a short time in WWE and dawned several names during his stay. From 1993 to 1996, he was known as the Tahitian Savage, Fred Williams, and Lloyd Lanui and briefly teamed up with Samu as The Headshrinkers in 2000. However, since he had several names, he didn't exactly have a memorable time in WWE.
In a February 2024 interview with WrestlingNewsCo, Lloyd shared that he was trying to land a spot as a producer in the Stamford-based promotion and eventually retire from the company. The Anoa'i member even stated that he was involved in making the 2023 SummerSlam package between Roman Reigns and Jey Uso.
#1. Samu was a brief member of The Wild Samoans
Samu was quite active in WWF when he was still wrestling, In 1983, he helped The Wild Samoans defend the Tag Team Championship when Sika was injured. After Sikoa returned, he explored other areas in the company like teaming up with Hulk Hogan, but nothing noteworthy happened.
After leaving the WWF, Roman Reigns' cousin began wrestling in other promotions and eventually formed The Samoan SWAT Team with Solofa Fatu, which made its way to WCW. However, their tag team didn't make a memorable impact when they landed in WWE in 1992.
