Truth is someone who allowed wrestling to completely turn his life around since he admitted that in his early 20s he would sell cocaine on the streets to make extra money. Truth dropped out of high school at 18, but continued to sell drugs to finance his lifestyle.

The former Champion was arrested four times and spent different lengths of time in prison before a stretch of 13 months. Truth went to a half-way house after his release from prison, which is where he met Jackie Crockett, who looked to convince Truth to join the wrestling business. Truth, however, was more focused on his music career.

For the next two years, he pushed to make it big in the music industry, before contacting Crockett and expressing an interest in becoming a wrestler. The former champion debuted at Pro Wrestling Federation (PWF) back in 1997 before heading to WWE in 1999.

Truth left WWE in 2002 before returning in 2008 and has since been one of the company's most reliable talents.
