#1 WWE stars Kevin Owens and Finn Balor

Kevin Owens and Finn Balor are both former WWE Universal Champions who came through the ranks in NXT together. The two men had a fantastic feud in developmental, culminating at Beast in the East when Balor became NXT Champion in Japan back in 2015.

While WWE fans have noticed that Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens have been the best of friends throughout their careers, it was Finn Balor that Owens himself named as his closest friend in WWE in an interview with CBS Los Angeles back in 2018.

"He and I came to WWE the exact same time. We didn’t know each other before we got there. We became pretty close pretty quickly when we did get to the NXT Performance Center. He’s been my best friend ever since, so I’d love to share the ring with him on that stage in WrestleMania."

Both men still have a number of years left of their respective careers, and Finn Balor could return to the main roster whenever he's given the go-ahead. This means that the proposed WrestleMania match could still take place in the not so distant future.
