SmackDown Superstar Elias is someone who has tremendous potential, and it seems that the powers-to-be have also noticed it, having given him an opportunity to have a segment with John Cena at WrestleMania. He also revealed that he was to face The Undertaker at Crown Jewel last year, a match which unfortunately did not take place. The SmackDown Superstar's gimmick has one aspect that is similar to The Rock - both Superstars played the guitar in WWE.

Elias used this aspect to challenge The Rock for a match at WrestleMania two years ago:

“I hear all kinds of comparisons of The Rock. Of course, he played guitar a few times on Monday Night RAW and if he wants to meet at WrestleMania and come walk with Elias, I’m more than welcome to show him how it’s done. Here’s the thing, okay? He did a few Monday Night RAWs [with a guitar], he did The Rock concerts, and everybody thinks he’s great — he did cover songs, okay? He ripped off Wonderful Tonight and Jailhouse Rock. Elias is doing originals every single week in front of millions of people all around the world."

The Rock and Elias will not be at @wwe #RAWReunion because @TheRock is afraid to step into the ring with me.

Elias continued to goad The Rock, and once again brought up his name ahead of the RAW Reunion last year where he stated that The Rock was not at the show because he was afraid of Elias.
