In previous years, WWE has reinvented themselves with considerable adaptability. During the Attitude Era, the feuds were intense, like the Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. The McMahon family feud. However, one factor that never seems to change, is the storylines. Therefore, what is missing in the PG Era?

Currently, WWE storylines are inconsistent and lack depth. Moreover, there is a lack of interesting characters. Yes, Elias and Rusev are popular with fans. However, WWE needs much more.

Here are five things WWE should do in 2018.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

#5 The Four Horsewomen

Could we see a new stable in WWE?
Could we see a new stable in WWE?

At Royal Rumble 2018, Ronda Rousey shocked the world when she debuted joining her fellow MMA fighter Shayna Baszler in WWE. Recently, there were rumours that Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke would join the NXT brand. This news is exciting - the Four Horsewomen of UFC is in WWE.

The women's revolution is integral to the future of WWE. Therefore, it would be interesting to see their plans for these four ex-MMA fighters. Rousey works on the main roster, while Baszler is the NXT Women's champion.

Potentially, should Shafir and Duke debut on NXT the outcome is unpredictable. Could we see a reunion? Or will WWE swerve the entire WWE Universe?

#4 Keeping NXT relevant

Will 2018 be the year for NXT?
Will 2018 be the year for NXT

In past years, NXT has flourished. Already this year, the brand received a five-star match rating, the first since 2011. However, WWE has called upon NXT talent frequently who have proved difficult to replicate.

The main roster is packed full of ex-NXT talent, therefore what can we expect from NXT this year? Nevertheless, the future is still bright.

Presently, NXT is hotter than ever before. Moreover, the talent affords some of the best names in the industry. To achieve success, WWE could consider stealing main roster ideas. Currently, Braun Strowman is the dominant character.

Killian Dane would have suited this role but is now on SmackDown Live. Conclusively, NXT requires interesting characters and feuds to fit its unique ethos. What can we expect?

#3 Promote mid-card talent

WWE has arguably the best talent within the wrestling industry and generally affords excellent storylines. However, in recent years, storylines could be considered bias. However, recently booking seems to be changing. Is WWE considering new options?

Essentially the mid-card talent in WWE provides the basis for storylines. However, WWE tends to underutilise talent. This notion is reminiscent of prior mid-card talent like Goldust or Vader. Therefore, this year would be the perfect time to develop mid-card talent. Just imagine the potential match options.

Recently on SmackDown Live The Miz defeated Jeff Hardy. Furthermore, on Raw Finn Balor defeated Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn. Conclusively, with Roman Reigns losing in such fashion, it is suggestive that WWE is changing.

Therefore, with Money in the Bank approaching, it is the right time for the likes of The Miz and Finn Balor to become world champion.

#2 Crown Braun Strowman as the Universal Champion

Braun Strowman is arguably the most entertaining superstar in WWE. At WrestleMania, he became Raw tag team champion with a ten-year-old fan. Moreover, he became the inaugural winner of the Greatest Royal Rumble.

Strowman's character quite literally is a throwback to the likes of Vader or Sycho Sid. Therefore, can WWE replicate their success with Strowman?

In past months the Universal Championship picture has been stale. Moreover, the lack of current champion Brock Lesnar is damaging the championship's reputation. Therefore, just like the old days, WWE needs to build the main event scene with 'Big Guy' characters.

Strowman has dominated everything placed in his path except the Universal Championship. So, WWE must consider that Roman Reigns needs improvement and that Strowman is best for business. We have witnessed multiple matches involving Roman Reigns against Lesnar.

However, this year must be when WWE crowns Strowman as Universal Champion. Otherwise, his momentum will dwindle. How will WWE play this out?

#1 Avoid repetition in storylines

Could we see Samoa Joe as WWE Champion?
Could we see Samoa Joe as WWE Champion?

SmackDown Live has formed brilliantly in the last year. The brand has maintained excellent match quality and storylines. Unfortunately, their upper mid-card has seemed repetitive. Of course, this refers to Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon versus Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

Their feud lasted months and culminated at WrestleMania 34. However, during this time fans began to lose interest.

Now that Samoa Joe, Jeff Hardy, Andrade 'Cien' Almas and others have joined the roster, storyline potential exponentially improves. However, the WWE Championship scene requires the highest focus. Therefore, to avoid repetition in their storylines SmackDown Live needs to utilise their talent more productively.

Samoa Joe has yet to be a world champion. Considering his career in ROH and Impact Wrestling (TNA) there is immense excitement surrounding Joe's matches. Moreover, Joe and AJ Styles have history. Therefore, could fans witness a reboot in their feud for the WWE Championship?
