#4 Peyton Royce could reform the IIconics with Billie Kay to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships
Peyton Royce’s most successful run in WWE was as one half of the very popular team, the IIconics. Along with Billie Kay, the real-life friends flourished as a duo and became the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions at WrestleMania 35. As champions, they held the titles for 120 days before losing them to Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross.
The Australian duo returned to RAW on May 11th, 2020, after an unexplained 6-month hiatus, looking swifter, smoother, and much improved in the ring. It seemed as if the IIconics were back to reclaim the gold and run the division. However, on August 28th last year, the IIconics lost a #1 Contender Losers Must Disband match, and the duo unceremoniously split.
Since the spilt, Peyton Royce has been vastly underutilized on RAW. In a confusing and frustrating move, WWE had her form a new tag team with Lacey Evans. But Royce found herself left behind during the awkward Evans, Ric Flair, and Charlotte angle.
On the other show, SmackDown, Kay has been fantastic in her comedy sketches in which she searches for another partner, embellishing her resume at every turn. Despite her hilarious antics, Kay is also yet to find singles success.
The IIconics were one of the best acts on WWE in years. They provide not just laughs, but they are one of the only legitimate tag teams in the women’s division. The women’s tag team division requires a boost. It has been stagnant for months. Current champions Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler are a thrown-together team who have overstayed their welcome. In fact, the previous four tag team champions were all singles competitors placed together in make-shift teams.
The division needs a credible and genuine team as champions. Therefore reforming the IIconics with Billie Kay’s impeccable comedic timing and Peyton Royce’s newfound edge, WWE could have a better, stronger, and more focused version of the team.
