The storyline in place is that Jericho wants a thank you from AEW for being the megastar that jumped ship, allowing the company to start selling out shows, whilst Cody doesn't believe he deserves any special recognition.
With an actual rivalry established and put in place, this is a storyline that AEW can easily run with, especially when they begin on television as they are both recognisable names who casual fans will be aware of.
On top of that, despite some brief interactions in WWE, the two men have never worked against each other, making this a dream match that fans would love to see.
