Roman Reigns was supposed to challenge Goldberg for the WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 36, but The Big Dog pulled out of the show at the last minute due to concerns that he had over the COVID-19 pandemic.

Goldberg, who ended up losing his title to Braun Strowman instead, has not appeared on WWE television since WrestleMania 36, while Reigns’ only recent appearance came on R-Truth’s game show on the WWE Network.

When could WWE book the match?

Whenever Roman Reigns decides to return to WWE in-ring action, it seems inevitable that this match will finally take place.

Speaking in a recent out-of-character interview, Goldberg said Reigns was a “joke” for taking a shot at him for headbutting a door in the backstage area before his WCW and WWE segments.

Reigns made the comment on Twitter after somebody asked him why he punches a small pad on the stage area during his entrance.

On-screen, WWE has not hinted that this rivalry could be revisited at any stage in the near future, but that recent dig from Goldberg certainly suggests that there is unfinished business between the two men.
