Two incredibly similar personalities, both known for their brash and no-nonsense demeanor- Austin vs Punk was a dream match fans had been clamoring for ever since Punk rose up the ranks in WWE. In a sit-down interview hosted by legendary announcer Jim Ross, tensions soared between Punk and Austin to an uncomfortable level. Austin can be seen ordering Punk to "stop looking at him with those little beady eyes". He also told Punk that the only reason he has the WWE Title is that The Rattlesnake hasn't come after him. The two teased a potential match, with Punk asking whether they were still talking about the video game, to which Austin gave a cryptic response.
The two also had a Twitter exchange back on the road to WrestleMania 28, when Punk hinted that he wants to face Austin at WrestleMania 29. Austin had responded positively, stating that he will be ready for Punk. The match never happened though, and Punk took on The Undertaker at MetLife Stadium.

Given the opportunity to script WWE’s next big storyline, Abhilash would treat fans to the second installment of The Bloodline Civil War. He would book Roman Reigns to re-form The Bloodline with The Usos and Sami Zayn upon his comeback. The angle would see The Tribal Chief-led group go head-to-head with The Rock, Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Jacob Fatu in a blockbuster family feud.
