Goldberg, the former WCW champion, and the former Universal Champion, returns for a once-in-a-lifetime encounter against The Undertaker this Friday in Saudi Arabia. Goldberg has not wrestled in WWE since April 2017, when he lost to Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 33.
Goldberg delivered a heartfelt promo the next night on RAW, hinting at a possible retirement. However, similar to Shawn Michaels, Goldberg has returned from a hiatus to compete in WWE's biannual show in Saudi Arabia.
Goldberg spent a lot of his career in WCW, where he wrecked every single superstar on the roster and stayed undefeated for a really long time. Goldberg defeated Brock Lesnar in less than a minute on his return to wrestling in 2016.
Goldberg still has some gas left in the tank, and several dream match-ups that we hope to see one day. We look at five such confrontations that could take place in the near future!
#5 Braun Strowman
Goldberg had a brief collision with Braun Strowman during his previous stint in WWE. Goldberg and Roman Reigns launched a double spear attack on the Monster Among Men during their buildup to Fastlane 2017.
Braun Strowman has lost a lot of his mystique from 2017, and is a shadow of his former self. Ever since Strowman lost to Lesnar at Crown Jewel 2018, he has struggled to find a proper spot for himself on the main roster.
A match against Goldberg will help to revitalize the Monster Among Men, and give a sense of credibility for the former Wyatt Family henchman. Strowman is a fantastic talent and a throwback to the Attitude Era, but his booking has not been handled well.
Strowman v Goldberg will be a must watch battle of two destructive forces.
#4 Lars Sullivan
Lars Sullivan is a new addition to the main roster of WWE, and he has immediately found himself in the middle of several controversies. His main roster run has been far from impressive, and has simply involved him slamming random people each week.
A match between Sullivan and Goldberg will help to push Sullivan as the real Freak in WWE, and could work as a proper farewell for the icon Bill Goldberg. Sullivan is struggling to find a proper feud on the main roster, and a matchup against Goldberg will surely help him become a bigger deal in WWE.
Goldberg and Lars are not known for their exceptional wrestling abilities, and are much more suited for a hardcore fight filled with devastating moves instead of the traditional chain wrestling.
Could they lock horns at the next show in Saudi Arabia? Time will tell!
#3 Samoa Joe
Goldberg is the only person to have beaten Brock Lesnar clean as a whistle in the middle of the ring. Another superstar who came close to believably beating Brock Lesnar was Samoa Joe at Great Balls of Fire in 2017.
Samoa Joe is one of the best superstars in WWE when it comes to mic skills and high intensity match-ups. His feud against Brock Lesnar in the lead-up to GBOF 2017 is arguably the best build to a match WWE has done in several years.
Samoa Joe will undoubtedly tear the house down with his intense and nerve wrenching segments with Goldberg, and could massively benefit from a win against the Icon.
A feud with Goldberg could be both a massive attraction for WWE and a surefire way to keep booking Joe as one of the red brand's most must-see performers.
#2 John Cena
John Cena is one of the biggest names in wrestling today, and he held the crown of WWE's top guy for well over a decade. While John Cena was synonymous with WWE for most of the 2000s, Goldberg held the WCW fort in the late 90s.
Goldberg and John Cena are two major attractions of their generations, and it is rather a surprise that they have never crossed paths in WWE. Cena has not appeared in WWE since January, and has not wrestled at a PPV since WWE Supershow Down in Melbourne last year.
Goldberg and John Cena facing off will dominate major headlines and will help WWE attract more eyes to the product. It will be a great way to bring a dream match to fruition and also increase the ratings at the same time.
#1 Roman Reigns
Goldberg faces off against The Undertaker at Supershow Down this Friday. Only two superstars have ever defeated the Undertaker at Wrestlemania, Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns.
Goldberg took care of Lesnar in 2016, but has never wrestled a 1-on-1 match against the Big Dog in WWE. Similar to Cena, Roman Reigns has risen to the top of the WWE mountain in recent years and has become the "guy" in WWE.
A battle of spears between Roman Reigns and Goldberg will be an epic encounter and help WWE to create a proper buzz among the casual audiences as well.
Both Goldberg and Reigns are polarizing superstars and have never received any outright cheers from the WWE Universe, but are big names nonetheless and can easily go to battle in a match for ages!
