Another match that was added to the Extreme Rules card is the Intercontinental title match between Finn Balor and Shinsuke Nakamura, which was held on the pre-show. And, surprisingly, we saw a title change as Nakamura won the Intercontinental title for the first time in WWE.

The fast-paced match ended with the Japanese Superstar winning it after landing the Kinshasa on Balor. It was surprising to see such a high-profile match on the pre-show and even more surprising that Balor lost.

His loss possibly indicates that WWE have something more interesting and bigger for him. I feel that with the trio of Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson, and AJ Styles reforming as a heel faction, WWE could use this opportunity to add Balor to the faction, who was the original leader of the Bullet Club faction, whose WWE offshoot is The Club.

This could also be a great way to turn Balor heel, which many WWE fans have wanted for a long time.
