#1 The McMahon Family
Known as wrestling’s first family- McMahon’s contribution to wrestling is more on the business front than actually wrestling. Though Vince K McMahon and his kids Shane and Stephanie McMahon have often strapped up their boots as on- screen characters, they aren’t really professional wrestlers, they’re major contributions rank in the business aspect of things.
Roderick James McMahon was a successful boxing, wrestling and concert promoter. His son Vincent James McMahon took over the family business and headed Capitol Wrestling Corporation which has had its fair share of the journey into becoming what we now know as WWE. Vincent Kennedy McMahon later took on from his father and the rest is history.
The WWE is and has been their family business which the current chairman brought to new heights by combining the powers of wrestling and show biz. The Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Connection kicked off the Golden Era of wrestling and since then it has become a pop cultural phenomenon.
#2 The Anoa’I Family
Possibly one of the largest wrestling families in its history, the Anoa’I Family has had stories of professional wrestling career with some of the greatest superstars coming out of this clan. The most famous one is ‘The Great One’- The Rock. But he’s a third-generation wrestler of his family. His father Rocky Johnson and grandfather Peter Maivia were also wrestlers. The current generation includes Roman Reigns, related to Afa and Sika, and The Usos ( Jimmy and Jey), sons of Rikishi. The family has also produced great wrestlers like the late Yokozuna and Umaga. We also have Nia Jax making a huge mark in NXT.
This family has had a larger influence on wrestling by working with different companies during its historical pro-wrestling stint. The above-mentioned names are only the most well- known of all.
#3 The Hart Family
Canada’s greatest wrestling family, The Hart family. The contribution of The Harts to the world of professional wrestling is undeniable. The Sharpshooter was popularized by the Hart family members. The Family begins with Stu Hart, who himself was a promoter and ran the Hart Dungeon where he trained many great professional wrestlers like Edge and Chris Jericho.
Just like the Anoa’I family, wrestling has been passed down to many generations. While Bret and Owen Hart are the most famous names, Jimmy Neidhart and Davey Boy Smith have been married to its family members. Natalya is currently under contract with the WWE along her husband Tyson Kidd.
#4 The Beavis Family
We now move on to England and possibly it’s most famous wrestling family with one of the members who has made them quite famous. We’re talking about The Beavis Family which has produced the youngest Divas Champion in WWE history, Paige. The 23-year old’s parents and brothers are all into wrestling. Paige has also faced her mother in many matches and she jokingly mentioned how one solved their issues by just getting into the ring.
Paige isn’t kidding when she says that wrestling is in her blood. Her mother ‘Sweet Saraya’ was wrestling without knowing that she was pregnant with Paige. The family runs their own wrestling promotion and also had a documentary made on them by Channel 4.
#5 The Guerrero Family
Now, over to Mexico. While many professional wrestling families have hailed from there, perhaps the most endearing wrestler of the lot has always been Eddie Guerrero. His untimely death in 2005 only set that legacy in stone. He also hails from one of the most trailblazing wrestling families- The Guerrero Family. Trailblazing because his father Gory Guerrero promoted and brought forth the Mexican Lucha Libre style of wrestling. He also invented the ‘Gory special’- a back to back backbreaker submission hold.
The wrestlers in the family apart from Eddie and Gory Guerrero include Chavo, Hector and Mando Guerrero.
