5 fantasy storylines that can save Roman Reigns' career

Can Reigns bounce back?

At WrestleMania 33, Roman Reigns single handedly destroyed our childhood when he defeated The Undertaker and essentially sent the Deadman into retirement. Now while this was an undoubtedly horrific moment, it wouldn't have been nearly as bad if Reigns had turned heel in the process of beating Taker in Orlando - but he didn't.

Yes, we know that the proposed Roman heel turn has been suggested a million times now, but there's a reason for that. People who insist that the guy doesn't have a character alignment are wrong because the WWE are clearly still trying to position him as a white meat babyface. It's pretty laughable in all honesty, and they need to do something drastic to alter the course of his career.

Sure you could argue that the fact he's garnering some form of reaction is a good thing, but Vince has the potential to do something huge with Roman's character going forward. He could turn The Big Dog into one of the biggest stars in years, despite seeming set on wanting to destroy his potential week in and week out.

So with all that being said, here are five fantasy storylines that can save Roman Reigns' career.

#1 The Corporate Turn

He bought in

This one is probably the most obvious, and it's also probably the easiest to execute. For well over a year now, Roman Reigns has clearly been the figurehead of Monday Night Raw, with management choosing to give him opportunity after opportunity - despite the fact that we've always been lead to assume that The Authority despises The Big Dog.

While this would've been more effective at WrestleMania, you could have Reigns finally snap and turn heel on someone like Dean Ambrose - thereby revealing that he was in cahoots with The Authority all along. You can even go all the way back to the Royal Rumble when explaining why he did it, with Roman being afforded the number 30 slot in the match.

Taker was only the beginning...

#2 The Retirement Machine

Why Roman why

If you really want to capitalise on the nuclear heat that Roman Reigns has been receiving over the last few years, then why not kill two birds with one stone? After apparently retiring The Undertaker in Orlando, we believe that Roman should continue to retire old school legends in order to further the idea that this truly is his yard now.

The biggest and most obvious name on the list would be Goldberg, and the seeds for the bout have already been planted from when the two had a staredown a few months ago. Reigns could systematically destroy the former WCW Champion, putting him on the shelf for good alongside the Deadman. Honestly, just imagine the boos.

This one may be a little bit riskier.

#3 The Wounded Warrior

Reigns needs to lose it all before he can climb back to the top

Both in terms of his personal life and his professional life, things haven't been going so well for Roman Reigns as of late. Whether it's family bereavements or failed drug tests, Roman has been on a seemingly downward spiral for a long time now - meaning that a road to redemption storyline could do the former WWE Champion a world of good.

After a short but sweet heel turn, you could have Roman leave as a shadow of his former self. Then, a few months later, have him return with an entirely new look and theme song that make him feel like an entirely different performer. If you have him come across as a ruthless tweener seeking to salvage his reputation, then people may start getting on board with him.

Don't. Mess. With. Roman.

#4 The Terminator

Reigns aka Arnie

This one is pretty simple - Roman Reigns destroys literally everybody, and he doesn't give a damn who he offends. Reigns returns to action with a full beard and a mean attitude to boot, with a blank expression on his face making him seem like The Terminator. Reigns beats down on all of his opponents with ruthless aggression, often getting himself disqualified from bouts.

He doesn't rise to the crowd or react to anything they may throw at him; and instead, he bulldozes his way to the Universal Championship. As an independent heel, Reigns holds onto the title for months on end - even cheating to hold onto the strap if necessary. Simply put, Reigns harnesses the negative responses that he's been getting and turns it into the perfect heel turn.

Never turn your back on family.

#5 The Dynasty

dynasty
It’s his yard now, guys

The Samoan dynasty is a long and storied one, with the current WWE roster possessing a number of top names in that regard. When it comes to this entry, we'd have Roman Reigns lead a faction simply known as The Dynasty - which includes The Usos, Samoa Joe, Nia Jax and Tamina Snuka.

The sole purpose of the group is to spread the message of their Samoan dominance any way they can, inflicting as much punishment as possible to any and all comers. Then, eventually, you could have Joe turn against the group which would build towards Reigns vs. Joe for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania. Book it, Vince.
