#1 CM Punk vs The Authority

CM Punk was the true rebel of WWE
CM Punk was the true rebel of WWE

CM Punk and his feud with WWE officials is infamous. Punk had a huge score to settle with The Authority. It was a mixture of real-life and kayfabe controversies that forced Punk to exit WWE. Punk was on his way to a match against Triple H at WrestleMania when he decided to retire from WWE.

The Cult of Personality was involved in a feud with The Wyatt Family along with Daniel Bryan. He accused The Authority when The Shield attacked him while he was trying to save Daniel Bryan from The Wyatt Family. This forced the Director of Operations, Kane, to book a three-on-one handicap match between The Shield and Punk.

Punk came out victorious and his further altercations with Corporate Kane made him the first entrant in the Royal Rumble match in 2014. Punk was part of the final four competitors during that match and Kane, after being eliminated earlier, came back and pulled Punk out of the ring, eliminating him in the process.

This marked the final appearance of Punk in a WWE ring. It looked like he was on his way in a feud against The Authority that would have been culminated in a match against Triple H at WrestleMania. Any match CM Punk is associated with automatically becomes high profile and a match of this caliber with such great storytelling would have fans across the globe invested in it.
