It's been a while since Daniel Bryan was in the WWE title picture. He last held the WWE Championship a year ago before losing it at WrestleMania 36 to Kofi Kingston. While he was an important opponent for 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt during his Universal Championship, Bryan was never going to beat him on the road to WrestleMania.
He challenged for the Intercontinental Championship at The Grandest Stage of Them All but lost to Sami Zayn, after which the latter stopped working in the TV tapings. Bryan has regained some momentum and qualified for the Money in the Bank ladder match. While he isn't expected to win the briefcase, it would be an interesting direction for WWE to go in.
Daniel Bryan has been on a consistent World Championship level for close to a decade now and he'll always be in a position to challenge for it or win it. It would be an interesting decision if WWE decides to go with Daniel Bryan as a 2-time Money in the Bank winner. It would put him right in the mix with the likes of Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt.
