What do you make out when you think of a wrestler?
A person with high levels of aggression, rage and most importantly someone who is insensitive towards the sufferings of others. This is a common perception and there is no mistake in having such a viewpoint. It is because of the traits these guys exhibit in the ring, you form these perceptions. But all of this is far from reality.
These guys may be extreme when wrestling inside the squared circle but in real life, most of them are not. In fact, many superstars are huge animal lovers.
Former WWE writer buries Judgment Day HERE
There are many World Champions in the company that love animals and some of them even had pets of their own.
As part of this slideshow, let us have a look at 5 former World Champions who are huge animal lovers. There could be many more additions here but under the purview of this article, I am only considering some of the superstars who are fan-favourites-
#1 Seth Rollins
Seth Rollins will take on Kevin Owens at Hell in a Cell for the WWE Universal Championship. Let us keep aside the match discussion for a while and talk about Seth’s love for pets.
Anyone who follows Seth Rollins on Twitter/Instagram would have already known Seth’s love for animals, especially dogs. Seth has a dog named Kevin and a kitten named Darrell. Before adding Darrell to his pet list, Seth had another dog named Poopoo but it had died a few years ago.
Seth Rollins also took part in the National Dog Day celebrations last year. After adopting Darrell, Seth tweeted the following-
#2 The Rock
The most electrifying man in all of entertainment, The Rock, is also a huge pet-lover. Rock is seen posting images of his pets very frequently on social networking sites Twitter and Instagram.
When you talk about The Rock and his pets, there is this particular story that goes often untold.
In September 2015, Rock posted an image of his pet dog, Brutus, who had died after eating some poisonous mushrooms. Rock was heart-broken at that point and recollected that he had saved Brutus from drowning just a few weeks before this tragic incident happened.
The great one has proved that he is not just a great wrestler/actor but he also is a kind-hearted individual who cares about pets.
#3 Daniel Bryan
The SmackDown GM and the man who changed the entire WWE landscape during 2014-15 is an immense lover of dogs. If you look at some of the photos Bryan posts on social networking sites, you will become familiar with DB's pet dog, Josie.
On many occasions, Bryan has posted images of him posing with the dog. Bryan has also mentioned that Josie is one of his best friends and he even shares his bed, books and everything with this cute pet.
In 2013, Daniel Bryan told media that he had lost his 11-year old dog, Asparagus, the wonder dog who was Daniel's "best friend". The 'Yes' man has also posted photos of his dogs with his signature T-shirts on a few occasions.
Posted above is an image of Daniel and his wife Brie, with Josie.
#4 The Undertaker
This could be the most bizarre pick on this list. The weirdest character in WWE, The Undertaker, who holds the record for the most respected and the longest reigning streak in sports entertainment deserves a place here.
He established the ‘Zeus Compton Calaway-Save the Animals’ fund at the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. This institution contributes funds for treatment of dogs. The Undertaker has also adopted dogs Thor and Tyson, and a 15-pound cat named Churchill.
An interesting pointer here is that Zeus was the name of the pet dog adopted by Taker and his ex-wife, Sara Calaway. So, all of this means a lot to the dead man!
#5 Goldberg
Let us now look at the guy who has been making constant headlines in WWE over the past three weeks, Bill Goldberg. Goldberg is an animal activist and is the spokesperson of American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
He has three pet cats Moe, Larry, Curly and a pet goat called Goatberg. Goldberg once spoke to TMZ about his goat and mentioned that the goat is terrifying but that only made him love it more.
He may be an aggressive entity inside the ring but a quick look at his personal life would tell you loads about this man. Yet another interesting fact here is that Bill Goldberg was featured in the PETA Vegetarian Celebrity cookbook and featured his recipe for a "Jackhammer soy slammer".
