5 former WWE Attitude Era Superstars - where are they now?

If there was ever a memorable period for WWE, one that changed fans' perceptions while witnessing enormous growth and development, it was the Attitude era. It was a time full of hardcore matches and pushed boundaries by having women dressed in lingerie, all while shattering rating records.

It was during the Attitude era that fans witnessed men falling from the top of cages, and saw a Texas rattlesnake take it upon himself to wipe out his boss. We saw a legendary screw job and the development of the McMahon-Helmsley regime. It is talked about today because what was done then will never be forgotten, and will likely never be seen again.

The Attitude era shook the very foundation professional wrestling was built on. It completely flipped how it was written and executed, and how it is perceived by its audience. Many contributed to its success. Who were they and what are they doing today? Here are five WWE Attitude era stars and where they are now.

#5 Triple H

The game is just as prevalent as he's ever been in the WWE.

It's all about the game and how you play it. Those words, sung by Lemmy of the famed band Motorhead, accompanied The Game to the ring, Triple H's career made him a bona fide WWE Hall of Famer, as he is a fourteen-time WWE champion, along with being a former tag team, Intercontinental and European champion. He has faced giants, heroes, and villains, coming out the other side far removed from the man that first walked into WCW.

Since he left WCW in hopes of a chance with WWE the wrestling world has never been the same. He has been part of some of the most historic moments in wrestling history, such as the curtain call, and has been aligned with some of the most notable men in wrestling history. Today, Triple H is even more active behind the camera as he is in front of it. He has been heralded for the development of NXT and is part of the fabric of the company past, present and future.

#4 The Undertaker

Could we see a return of force from the Undertaker at Wrestlemania?

For whom the bell tolls! Those are the words that came to mind during the entrance of The Undertaker. During his twenty-five years in the ring, he had memorable feuds with the likes of the late Yokozuna, Diesel, Shawn Michaels and 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin. He also underwent reinvention along the way. At one point, he completely abandoned the Dead Man character and embraced being an American Bada**, a biker character he committed to with equal effort.

One of the greatest accomplishments that Undertaker was known for was his twenty-one-win streak at Wrestlemania. He captured championships, was both a face and a heel, and through it, all remained an iconic figure in the promotion's history. His commitment to his character was complete. Today, many have speculated that when he left his cap, coat, and gloves in the ring last year after losing his Wrestlemania match up it symbolized his retirement. He was most recently seen as part of the WWE's Raw25 program.

#3 Mick Foley

What has Mrs. Foley's baby boy been up to since leaving the WWE?

Mrs. Foley's baby boy was an ordinary man that did extraordinary things. Possessing an ability to take what appeared to be almost inhuman amounts of punishment, Foley captivated fans with what he did in the ring, and also did so on the microphone. He is remembered for having three faces, as the personas of Dude Love, Cactus Jack, and Mankind all appeared at one time or another and showed a range of personalities and promo skill.

While some brawlers would often scream into the microphone to convey how they feel and what they think, Foley would articulately yet adamantly express his thoughts on his competition. His hall of fame career was filled with moments that are forever etched in the minds of fans, whether it was his alliance with The Rock or falling off the top of the Hell in a Cell.

Mick Foley never tried to do anything other than entertain fans that came to see him. Today, he continues to tour his comedy show and was the Raw General Manager as recently as 2017.

#2 Shawn Michaels

What has been filling the time of the Heartbreak Kid today?\

When he first came to WWE, Michaels was one half of a fan-friendly tag team that had many teenage girls swooning and many young fans enjoying their skills in the ring. Their tandem offense, from such a young duo, was highly regarded at the time. After he and his partner in The Rockers Marty Jannetty split, Michaels catapulted to the top of WWE as the Heartbreak Kid.

Michaels in the ring was nothing short of phenomenal. From memorable feuds with the likes of Bret Hart, The Undertaker, Triple H and Vince McMahon, to hugely successful championship reigns as WWE champion, Michaels was recognized as the showstopper. After a five-year absence from the ring, Michaels was able to return and reclaim the championship that he would forever be synonymous with. Today, Michaels has been involved in professional wrestling in an array of ways. Currently, he has been helping the talent in NXT to further develop their skills and be the best they possibly can be.

#1 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin

What has the Texas rattlesnake been up to?

He came to raise a little hell and kick a little a**! When he first arrived in WWE, many only knew him as The Ringmaster. However, those that were familiar with his career in WCW would recall a man with long flowing hair that went by the name of 'Stunning' Steve Austin. It was at that time where he caught the eye of Paul Heyman, who would, upon Austin's release from WCW, turn him into something memorable and different in ECW.

However, it wasn't until Austin became the Texas Rattlesnake, the man who defied the boss and called himself Stone Cold, that business for him began to pick up. Today, Austin is still involved in the profession he loves, as he hosts the Stone Cold Podcast. He also hosts a couple of reality shows, Redneck Island and the Broken Skull Challenge, on CMT. He was most recently seen as part of the WWE's 25th Anniversary episode of Raw
