R-Truth debuted as a wrestler in 1997 and made his way to WWE's developmental territorial in 1999. He left the company in 2002, only to return in 2008. As a WWE Superstar, R-Truth is a 2-time Hardcore champion, a former United States Champion and a former Tag Team Champion.

Kofi Kingston started training as a wrestler in 2005 and was signed by WWE in 2006. He made his main roster debut in 2007. Beyond his trademark Royal Rumble spots, Kingston is best known as a member of The New Day, which whom he is a 4-time Tag Team Champion. Kingston is also a 4-time Intercontinental Champion and a 3-time United States Champion.

Kingston has other Tag Team championship reigns to his credit, including 1 alongside R-Truth. The two started teaming together in 2012 and won the titles as part of a Triple Threat Tag Team Match against Primo and Epico and Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger. They held onto the belts for a few months until losing them to Team Hell No, as comprised of Daniel Bryan and Kane.

R-Truth and Kofi Kingston both continue to be part of the active WWE roster, and there are hints of The New Day being at the tail end of its run. In turn, it is impossible for R-Truth and Kingston to reunite for another run as a tag team.
