![The rivalry between John Cena and Edge is considered one of the greatest in WWE history](https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2020/04/c59bb-15868011736137-800.jpg?w=190 190w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2020/04/c59bb-15868011736137-800.jpg?w=720 720w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2020/04/c59bb-15868011736137-800.jpg?w=640 640w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2020/04/c59bb-15868011736137-800.jpg?w=1045 1045w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2020/04/c59bb-15868011736137-800.jpg?w=1200 1200w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2020/04/c59bb-15868011736137-800.jpg?w=1460 1460w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2020/04/c59bb-15868011736137-800.jpg?w=1600 1600w, https://statico.sportskeeda.com/editor/2020/04/c59bb-15868011736137-800.jpg 1920w)
Edge's feud and subsequent Last Man Standing match against Randy Orton at WrestleMania 36 proved that during this WWE run, the Rated-R Superstar doesn't have to exclusively feud with Superstars he has never faced before. There is certainly a time and place for Edge to revisit old rivalries and storylines with previous friends and foes that Edge has accumulated throughout his Hall of Fame WWE career.
One such familiar foe could be the 16-time World Champion John Cena. One of Edge's best and most personal rivalry came against John Cena in 2006, while both Superstars were on Monday Night RAW. Edge, in fact, won his first WWE Championship by famously cashing in his Money in the Bank contract on a weakened John Cena at New Year's Revolution 2006 after Cena had just defended his WWE Championship inside the Elimination Chamber. Later that year, their feud would continue with famous moments such as Edge attacking John Cena's father inside his house and John Cena throwing Edge into the Long Island Sound.
The feud would end in a hellacious TLC match at Unforgiven 2006 in Edge's hometown of Toronto, Canada, where John Cena would regain the WWE Championship. The feud elevated both Superstars into serious main event players in WWE. It isn't sure how many matches both Edge and John Cena have left inside a WWE ring. While both WWE icons are still able to go, it would be great to see these two long-time rivals face off one more time before both men ride off into the sunset for good.
In addition to this, with Edge's well-documented, and at one point career-ending, neck injuries, the Rated-R Superstar needs to be in the ring with a safe worker and a worker who he fully trusts. There isn't a much more trusted and safe Superstar currently going today than the 16-time World Champion and now Hollywood megastar in John Cena.
