Today wrestling fans might know Bob Backlund as the eccentric pro-wrestling legend who makes appearances on television from time to time. However, back in his heyday, Backlund was one of the greatest professional wrestlers on the planet.
Backlund's first reign as champion lasted almost 6 years, the second longest reign in WWE history. Backlund would win the title again in 1994 when he defeated Bret Hart to become the world champion 16 years after his first reign.
Backlund was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013.
