After playing The Scorpion King on the big screen, The Rock received several top roles in movies such as Gridiron Gang, Get Smart, and The Tooth Fairy.

However, as years progressed, he played action-oriented roles which turned out to be a good decision as he received a huge fan following. The Rock joined The Fast and the Furious franchise, and also starred in movies such as San Andreas, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and Jumanji.

In 2016 Johnson was once again named in the Guinness World Record books as the highest-paid actor between June 1, 2015, and June 1, 2016. According to the Guinness World Records website:

“Wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson (USA, aka “The Rock”) earned an estimated $64.5 m (£44.1 m). San Andreas (USA, 2015) and Disney’s Moana (USA, 2016) are two of the movies to which he lent his talents in that period.”

The Rock went on to beat his own record in 2017 as he earned $124 million from June 2017 to June 2018, nearly double the earnings he posted in the 2017 list.
