Of course, WWE referenced the GameSpot stock surge that shook up Wall Street on this week's SmackDown. Several RAW Superstars made their presence felt on the episode, and among them were The Miz and John Morrison, who first showed up during a backstage segment between Big E and Sonya Deville.
The Miz teased cashing-in his MITB contract during the clash between Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens at WWE Royal Rumble 2021, after which, and quite out of the blue, Morrison made this reference.

While the explanation by Morrison was far from logically convincing, it wasn't intended to be taken seriously in the first place. More than anything else, it was a cheeky reference, and it worked well within that context.
The expression on the IC Champ and Deville's face was enough to determine how unconvinced they were. Though most of the comedy by The Miz and John Morrison is juvenile and childish, segments like this where they craft humor from real-world happenings are most welcome.
