#3 Aleister Black was protected despite his loss
Aleister Black was supposed to face AJ Styles in a singles match on RAW this week. However, we saw a twist in this match, when Styles initially backed down and asked the other members of The OC to fight Black. The Dutch Destroyer defeated Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, before getting the opportunity to face The Phenomenal One inside the squared circle.
When Black and Styles started their match, the former was already fatigued. Technically, the singles match turned into a Gauntlet match for the former NXT Champion. Beating Styles looked like an improbable task for Black, who could barely stand after fighting Gallows and Anderson. Styles won the match with a Phenomenal Forearm and Black experienced his first loss on the main roster.
Even though Black lost the bout, he didn't lose any momentum. WWE managed to protect Black, who has been enjoying a decent run. Moreover, the victory allowed Styles to regain momentum, who is likely to face The Undertaker at the Grandest Stage of Them All. It will be interesting to see if Black avenges the loss at Elimination Chamber.
