Sheamus
A few months back, Jeff Hardy was involved in a hit-and-run incident, with fellow WWE Superstar Elias being the victim. Hardy was found on the spot where Elias was lying on the road in an injured state, and the former was arrested immediately. The angle received some major flak from the WWE Universe, as it took slight reference from Jeff Hardy's real-life drunk driving incidents. Elias was supposed to face AJ Styles in the semifinals of the Intercontinental title tournament, but the match didn't happen as a result of the accident.

The WWE Universe wasn't happy with this angle
Later, in a big twist, it was revealed that it was Sheamus who plotted the terrible crime and framed Jeff Hardy for the same. In reality, Elias had suffered a pectoral muscle injury and was going to be out for a while. WWE churned out this angle to provide a storyline reason for Elias' absence from TV. WWE Superstars have committed a long list of storyline crimes over the years, but Sheamus' deed on SmackDown is surely deserving of at least a spot in the top 10.

Given the opportunity to script WWE’s next big storyline, Abhilash would treat fans to the second installment of The Bloodline Civil War. He would book Roman Reigns to re-form The Bloodline with The Usos and Sami Zayn upon his comeback. The angle would see The Tribal Chief-led group go head-to-head with The Rock, Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Jacob Fatu in a blockbuster family feud.
