Stone Cold failed to become the sole owner of the WWF.

At the 1999 King of the Ring, a true mystery unfolded, and it's not the fact that fans can't remember who won (it was Billy Gunn).

No, the real mystery came when Stone Cold Steve Austin met Shane and Vince McMahon, for the complete control of the WWF.

Competing in a ladder match, Austin was able to battle past the numbers game, and it seemed that there was going to be a lot more drinking at the office.

But when Austin reached to grab the briefcase, the prize was hoisted high, out of the Rattlesnake's reach.

Even though fans, and Austin wanted an explanation, none was given, as the McMahons eventually won the match, and though the mystery man was hinted at being the Big Boss Man, no actual conclusion was revealed.
