He may now be back in WWE as an in-ring competitor, but Edge was far from this stage in 2019. There was seemingly no hope for a return to the ring for the Rated-R Superstar but one moment of trusting himself sparked conversations on the possibility. That came at SummerSlam 2019.

Edge interrupted Elias for what was intended to be a promo in front of his hometown crowd in Toronto. His wife, Beth Phoenix, thought the same thing as she snuck out in the crowd for the segment. The 11-time WWE world champion revealed on his WWE 24 documentary, that he wasn't cleared at the time.

Edge said that he "had a weird inkling" and was feeling the moment, which is why he instantly changed the promo segment with Elias into a spear. The 2021 Men's Royal Rumble winner picked up on what was happening and changed his stance to land the spear on The Drifter.

Despite happening on the Kickoff Show of SummerSlam, this moment is iconic because it featured Edge's first spear inside a WWE ring in over eight years. He would go on to officially get cleared and return in the 2020 Royal Rumble Match.
